Hayley over at Single Motherhood Challenges has just blogged about some of her favourite possessions which got me thinking what mine were…..
This is my special things cabinet:

I got the cabinet from my dad about a year ago and I remember asking people what sort of things they collected as I was going to start a grown up collection to fill my empty cabinet. At the time someone said that I would be surprised how quickly it would fill itself without any effort from me and they were so right.
The big letters spelling LOVE were a pressie from Mr Frugal last year, although to be fair I picked them and bought them so it wasn’t exactly a big romantic gesture lol.
The orange gerbera flower at the top of the chunky vase was off my mam. It was originally in a vase that said that I was a special daughter…. Aaaaaw
The Gretna Green Anvils are special because that’s where we got married. We got the tiny one from the man who did the ceremony from us (not sure what his title was) and the larger was a gift from one of our guests. In the background the cork is from our first (of many) bottle of champagne at the reception and there is a lucky penny stuck in it for luck (obviously).
The pottery was painted by the kids and Mr Frugal, we have a local pottery place where you can go and choose something to paint and they will fire it for you ready to collect a couple of days later. We had so much fun doing these but they were a bit pricey (£50.00 for these and a little dish that I made) so it’s only a once a year treat I think.
This is the back of my watch – Mr Frugal has had it engraved to say ‘Infinity +1′ which is how much he says he loves me….
When my mam was alive she used to make things with Miss Frugal all the time, she made her own version of a snowglobe one day with her and we have treasured it ever since.
When it comes down to it though, these things are just that, things. Obviously my most treasured things are my family….
A close second would be our memories, I would be gutted to lose the kids memory books and even more gutted to lose our photos. I have all our photos on USB stick’s and although they are in no order (yet) I could spend hours looking through them.
What are your favourite things….?
(P.S. Check out Ernest’s shameful muscling in to the family photo)

I know I commented on this ages ago! My comments seem to be dissappearing from all my posts!
I love your cabinet – I have a wall-e shelf of lovely things that i find, it's the simple stuff that makes us happy x
Great post! I have a cabinet like that – full of all sorts of goodies I've collected over the years. You've motivated me to go through it and have a walk down memory lane.
Oh I LOVE your "Love" Word! I've always wanted some like that and the word "Peace"
Your watch is gorgeous! Sounds like you have a wonderful hubby there you lucky girl!
Ah that's lovely that you have them all in a special cabinet. Love the picture of your children. They really are the most special 'things' aren't they.
