Meal Planning is boring!
There I’ve said it and I’m not taking it back.
But…. Since I started to plan our meals for the week ahead we have actually managed to stick to our shopping budget (almost lol) and I do like knowing what we’re having for tea each night and never having to pop to the shop at the last minute for something. It’s just the actual planning part that I don’t like doing.
Every Thursday I list everything that we have in and use that as a base for my plan as I try to use up what we have in first. Last week that took about two minutes as it was pay day and we hadn’t done much shopping the week before due to a distinct lack of pennies. This week it took a bit longer but we’ve got nothing in to inspire me (you’d think I was Jamie Oliver or something wouldn’t you?) so I am going to try and make an all new much more exciting menu plan this week….
Thursday
Lunch – Egg on Wholemeal toast
Tea – Home made wraps and Frugal Fondue
SW Tea- Home made egg fried rice
Chilli and Lime baked tomatoes for a snack later.
Friday
Lunch – Home made SW quiche
Tea – Fish fingers, chips and beans for the kids (I’m working late so it’s a Mr Frugal tea lol)
SW Tea – Spanish Omelette (If I can figure out what one is)with Chilli and lime baked tomatoes.
Saturday
Lunch – Cereal and toast – whatever takes they feel like.
SW- Egg on wholemeal toast.
Tea – Home made Pizza with Garlic Bread for the kids. Jambalaya (Slimming World style) for the grown ups.
Sunday
Lunch – American Style Pancakes - It’s a family tradition now apparently to have pancakes on a Sunday morning.
SW – Egg on wholemeal toast
Tea – Roast Chicken, yorkshire puddings, roasties and veg – Again….
SW – Chicken, Veg and potatoes, I’ll have a little bit of gravy made with an OXO cube as it’s free.
Monday
Lunch – Sandwiches
Tea – Chicken nuggets with oven chips as I’m at work and Mr Frugal can’t really cope with anything too complicated.
SW – I’m at work till late so I will take a stack of Slimming world friendly snacks and have a quick pasta n sauce when I get in.
Tuesday
Lunch – Home made SW quiche
Tea – Homemade macaroni cheese for the kids and Mr Frugal.
SW – Jacket Potato, chicken breast, veg and some grilled mushrooms.
Wednesday
Lunch – Sandwiches
Tea – Toad in the hole – I got some nice reduced sausages from Asda 39p reduced from £2 ish so I have a couple of packs of those left to use up.
SW – Egg, bacon, beans and Slimming World Chips.
I am also going to make some soups this week as well for when I get hungry.
I am going to join Slimming World officially tonight so I am feeling a bit nervous, more so because I have to take both kids as Mr Frugal is playing football and I have my fingers crossed that they will settle. Will just have to sit them in he corner with some sweets (bad mother alert) and a Nintendo DS each and hope for the best!
Just read back through the plan and to be honest it’s not too exciting is it? Never mind. It’ll do.

Next week I am going to consult my recipe books and be make it more interesting – although to be fair I do say that every week.
Kadeeae – Now you know why I haven't eaten oxtail since I was little – traumatised childhood lol
Making the menu is boring, I agree. Does make life easier tho
Thinking about adding one or two never tried before dishes a month just to perk my meal plan up a bit as I'm finding it repetitive.
Will be adding a reply to your comment in my comment corner tomorrow – 'bout your dad – not meant to be disrespectful (lol) – still giggling at the thought.
Good luck at SW tonight! I'm the opposite I love meal planning now, sit there surrounded by recipe books and food magazines adapting recipes to fit in with sw (and my budget!), I'm clearly very sad
I love meal plans and keep meaning to post mine. Next week maybe
